    • As more farms are turned into pine forests how will that affect the requirement in the future for poplar poles to control erosion?<\/span><\/li>\n

    • Greater Wellington Regional Council has recently considered bus fares. <\/span>\n

      • We all recently discovered that there was no oversight of the fluoridation programme and that our teeth had been rotting away on your watch.<\/span>\n

        • This year sees the start of the M\u0101ori wards in Porirua City. <\/span>\n

          • Would you consider introducing them to the Regional Council, in the next term?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
          • Regarding public transport, do you believe we should invest more or less relatively? <\/span>\n

            • If so, how do you see us getting to the required level and if not, what other methods do you have for tackling congestion and air pollution?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
            • The current process for citizen engagement seems very daunting for the majority of people.<\/span>\n

              • How can ordinary residents and ratepayers get their voices heard by the council, particularly those that are in other constituencies far from yours?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
              • Gravel is no longer being extracted from our rivers due to the environmental effects. However, this is creating flooding issues as the riverbeds rise. Gravel is still needed for development so land gravel quarries are being developed which are also creating environmental effects.<\/span>\n

                • How can we gain access to river gravel to ensure that gravel is available from rivers to minimise flooding effects and is available for development?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
                • I often want to take my bike on the train at weekends and public holidays but there are bus replacements which often don\u2019t take bikes. What will you do to ensure bikes can always be taken on public transport?<\/span><\/li>\n
                • What do you think will be the three biggest issues for Councils in the next term (2022-2025)?<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Do you think that the Resource Management Act reform is necessary?<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Councils are being given roles and responsibilities from the Central Government coming from regulation and legislation. These are referred to as unfunded mandates.<\/span>\n

                  • What is your opinion on the unfunded mandates from the Central Government?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
                  • Should councils employ public relations teams?<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • Should councils be funding and helping to organise community events?<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • Should councils be forced to treat their potable water with fluoride?<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • In your view is the Central Government overloading councils with regulation and legislation?<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • How respectful is the relationship between Central and Local Government?<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • Do you think climate change should be the number one concern at the ballot box?<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • What are you going to do to ensure young people\u2019s voices are heard and actioned to keep our region vibrant and growing?<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • What are you personally going to do to role-model climate action such as bike to work every day, go zero waste, or eat a plant based diet?<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • Would you bring in household food waste collection to stop this waste from going to landfill, and would you support the Regional Council establishing a joint approach alongside other joining city councils to do this?<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • How do you propose to foster a more positive public impression of more active modes of transport such as cycling and walking, particularly at our Public Transport Hubs such as Porirua Train Station?<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • Do you agree that if there is a move to introduce volumetric charges for water for residents, it should only be introduced with the consent of the majority of voters?<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • Do you support the use of masks, especially indoors, particularly on our public transport as an important tool for keeping Covid at bay and others safe?<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • Covid has shown us that we need a bit more space to move around and not catch contagious diseases. At the moment those in cars have all the space and pedestrians are squashed onto narrow pavements. <\/span>\n

                    • What will you do to make more space for those of us walking around the city? Such as one way streets, change on street parking to pavement etc?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                      3. Greater Wellington Regional Council is reluctant to initiate Resource Management Act enforcement proceedings against other local authorities: for example Porirua City Council and its management of the wastewater network and the treatment plant.<\/span>\n
