This 2023 we will be covering

We are covering the 2023 general election having our shows all over New Zealand with plans to cover 40 electorates including all 7 Maori Electorates. We are a non-profit with the principle of giving any candidates standing for office an equal oppurtunity to platform the reason why the electorate should give you their vote. We did in 2020 8 electorates across greater Wellington with positive responses from the Candidates who participated in it, and in 2022, we took it to a new level by covering covering all the councilor wards and mayroalties for Wellington City Council, Hutt City Council, Upper Hutt City Council, Porirua City Council, Kapiti Coast District Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council, and can comfirm in 2022, in both Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt, all councilors and the mayors elected to office, appeared on It’s in the Ballot. We also covered the Hamilton-West by-election in November 2022.

We have also decided in 2023 to create It’s in the Ballot as a central hub for posting not just our own but other meet the candidates events as we discovered from there is no central place to post them for New Zealand. You can submit your local Meet the Candidates meeting HERE

If you are a candidate standing in any electorate around New Zealand, you can submit your canditate information HERE and we will publish on our website. We will after the roles close off double check to confirm but that will be for all candidates at once.

If you have a question that you would like to submit one please submit it HERE. We do have some rules around questions, that they must be able to be answered by all candidates standing, not directed at one particular candidate as if the wrong candidates picks the question from the sealed boxes, it will be awkward for them to answer. If you want to ask a question directly to them, flick them a email, we have their contact details on our site (if they have submitted them) or alternatively you ask them at one of our shows in the break

If you would like to help support the show, we do accept donations, you can donate directly into our bank account 38-9023-0800167-000, It’s in the Ballot Productions. We are a self funded organization with no financial backers and rely on small dollar, no strings attached, donations to function. We also overlooked by the Newtown Residents Association INC as our partner in this project
